Adventures for Love is a group of ladies who love an adventure, some fun and a glass of wine but they enjoy raising money for good causes while having fun.
Shortly after turning 40 one of the group decided she needed to do something different with her life and Jenny Flowerdew Reid and Desiree Morehen Friend climbed Kilimanjaro. This created a whole new lifestyle for them both and the following year they embarked on a breast cancer project and walked the Great Wall of China and here they met Heather Maine, Michelle Diesel, Viv Theron and Sue Stockenstrom. Jenny and Des also raised money for projects related to children – School of Achievement and Clouddog.
Adventure was now eating away at them and the following year Heather, Sue and Jenny did Maccha Pichu and raised money for School of Achievement and Hospice East Rand.
In 2012 six ladies raised almost R100 000 for the Conservation of Lower Zambezi and Edith Phillips, Carine Fraser, Michelle Diesel, Lyz Meistre, Sandra Venter and Jenny canoed almost 100km down the Zambezi River. The funds raised were used as a depost for a new vehicle which is currently used in many anti-poaching operations.
In 2013 eight ladies – Carine Fraser, Heather Maine, Sonya Skipp, Vanessa Hall, Colette Reid, Jacqui Becker, Annette and Jenny did 101km Walk through the Namaqualand Desert experiencing one of the world’s natural wonders – the Namaqualand Daises.
The group has now spread to the Hartbeespoort area, Cape Town and Nelspruit and the adventures and projects continue locally and internationally.
